Odoo - Brightmotive Connector

Sell on Brightmotive without keeping two catalogues in sync

If you sell auto parts to garages through Brightmotive, you already know the tension: Brightmotive is where your customers browse and order, but your own ERP is where the truth actually lives, your prices, your stock, your customers. Keeping both in step by hand (or with a patchwork of exports someone remembers to run) is the kind of job that quietly breaks the moment someone's on holiday.

Our Brightmotive connector for Odoo removes that gap. Odoo stays the system of record for your catalogue, customers, pricelists and stock; the connector keeps Brightmotive fed with exactly what it needs, automatically, in both directions.

Two things happen at once

When a garage is browsing or checking out on Brightmotive, Odoo answers in real time. A price lookup, a stock check, placing an order, pulling up order history: these go straight to Odoo and come back in a fraction of a second, using your actual pricelists and actual stock levels, not a cached copy.

Behind the scenes, Odoo also keeps Brightmotive's own records up to date: which customers exist and what they're allowed to see, which articles are sellable, and roughly what's on the shelf. That part runs on a schedule, so it happens whether or not anyone remembers to trigger it.

What a garage actually experiences

A garage looks up a part, and the price they see reflects their own agreement with you, including any volume discounts and surcharges like deposits or delivery costs. They check availability, and it reflects what's genuinely on the shelf in the warehouse that serves them. They place an order, and it lands in Odoo as a confirmed sales order, ready for picking, with the vehicle details and any remarks attached to the line. If they call in an order by phone instead, it shows up in their Brightmotive order history right alongside the ones they placed online, so their purchase record stays complete either way.

If a connection drops mid-checkout and Brightmotive retries the same order, Odoo recognizes it and simply returns the order it already created, instead of duplicating it. That one detail saves a surprising number of support tickets.

Keeping the catalogue mapped without duplicate work

Matching your articles to what Brightmotive and TecDoc expect is normally the tedious part of a setup like this. The connector handles it at the category level: you set up the reference codes for TecDoc and each supplier catalogue (Fource, Doyen, Alliance, and dozens of others) once per product category, and every product in that category inherits the mapping. When a specific product needs its own code because a supplier uses a different reference, you override it just for that product, nothing else changes.

Before anything goes out the door, both the customer record and the product record let you preview exactly what the next export would contain, so a missing field shows up as a preview warning instead of as a support call from Brightmotive a day later.

Visibility when something looks off

Every export is logged with what was sent, how many records, how long it took, and whether it succeeded. When Brightmotive says a customer or an article seems to be missing, that log is usually the fastest way to find out why, without needing to dig through the database by hand. Access to all of this is limited to the people who should have it; the rest of your team keeps normal read access to the underlying records without seeing Brightmotive-specific configuration.

Worth setting up properly from day one

Getting real value out of this depends on a bit of upfront groundwork: every customer who should be visible on Brightmotive needs a customer code, every warehouse needs a location reference, and every product needs its ERP code and category mapping filled in. None of it is complicated, but it's worth doing carefully once rather than discovering gaps later through orders that fail.
