In businesses that work with bulk materials - building materials, grain, recycling, waste - the weighbridge is the undisputed gatekeeper. Every truck weight determines what gets invoiced, what's booked in inventory, what's delivered to the customer. And yet, in many organisations, the step from weighbridge to ERP still goes through a paper slip, an Excel export, or an operator retyping the weight. With the delays, typos, and disputes that follow.
We connected Odoo directly to RDS weighbridge software. As soon as a weighing is completed, the data - gross, tare, and net weight, vehicle, supplier or customer, material type, timestamp - flows into Odoo automatically and is linked to the right operation: a delivery slip, a purchase order, a sales order, or an internal move. The operator at the weighbridge remains the source of truth, but what they weigh ends up in the system without an intermediate step.
How it works
The connector listens for new weighings in RDS, identifies the matching record in Odoo through references entered or scanned at the weighbridge, and posts the weight to the right line.
If desired, it also triggers downstream actions: updating inventory, preparing invoice lines, sending confirmations. Manual intervention only where it adds value; for instance, when discrepancies fall outside a preconfigured tolerance.
Why use the Odoo RDS connector?
Smooth at the weighbridge
Shorter wait times for drivers, fewer lost slips
Reliable invoicing
What gets billed is what was actually weighed
Real-time inventory
Incoming and outgoing materials posted immediately
For operations this means less friction at the weighbridge and fewer phone calls after the fact. For finance and management it means numbers you can actually steer on - not at the end of the week, but at the moment things happen.
